About Us
Schmidt Construction is family owned and has been in business for 50 years. That history shows up in how we look at a property, communicate through the work, and build outdoor spaces meant to hold up for the long haul.
The Family Story
A family name behind the work.
Schmidt Construction has been family-owned and operated since 1973. Two generations, one company — built on the same belief that outdoor spaces deserve the same care and craftsmanship as the homes they surround.
Founder — Est. 1973
Mike
Mike founded Schmidt Construction in 1973 with little more than a strong back and a willingness to figure things out in the field. Over the next five decades, he built the company from the ground up — project by project, property by property — earning a reputation across the Omaha metro for work that holds up and a crew that shows up. More than 50 years later, his hands-on approach still sets the standard for how Schmidt operates.
Second Generation
Mikiel
Mikiel grew up around the work and is now bringing a new dimension to it. Currently pursuing an engineering degree at the University of Nebraska Omaha, he applies current technical knowledge to the way Schmidt designs and builds — from material selection to site planning. The combination of his grandfather's field experience and his own engineering education means clients get the benefit of both: proven methods and up-to-date thinking.

How We Work
01
Honest Assessment
We start with what the property actually needs—not what makes the estimate look good. If a simpler solution solves the problem, we'll tell you.
02
Clear Communication
You'll know what we're building, why we're building it that way, and what to expect at each stage. No surprises. No disappearing acts.
03
Durable Work
We build things that hold up. The materials we specify and the methods we use are chosen for long-term performance in Nebraska weather conditions.
Our Promise
"We believe credibility is earned in the details: honest conversations, durable work, and a finished yard that feels right years after the project is complete."
